Owner/Occupational Therapist

The President of Pediatric Therapies, Inc. received her degree in occupational therapy from James Madison University and has over twenty years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy.

She has been a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia for ten years. Prior to that, she practiced physical therapy in NC for twenty years.

Allison received her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia and has over twenty years of experience in pediatric physical therapy.

MS, OT/L
She has a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from UNC-Chapel Hill and has over 30 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy.

MS, OTR/L
She has a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She has over twenty years of experience as an occupational therapist, with a primary focus in providing services in the school setting.  She has served more than ten school districts in the state of VA.

OTR/L

She is a 2014 graduate of Shenandoah College. Prior to attaining her degree in occupational therapy, she practiced as a social worker.

Megan has a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy with a minor in Psychology from Quinnipiac University.

OTA/L

Kathleen Redford is a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant. In 2008, she received her Occupational Therapy Assistant degree from Jefferson College of Health Sciences.

Providing Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and School Psychology services to Students in Schools and Government Agencies.

Therapy services include consultation, evaluation, and development of Individualized Educational Plans (IEP), treatment, participation as an interdisciplinary team member during developmental assessments, participation in team meetings, in-services, and other services outlined by the Director of Special Education.

 

The therapists employed by Pediatric Therapies, Inc. have treated children with a variety of disabilities. Therapists will evaluate new referrals and present their findings to the eligibility or IEP team. Level of service will be determined by the team and then treatment will be provided as outlined in the IEP. The therapists will make all attempts to attend eligibility and IEP meetings on all of their students. If the therapists are not in the county on the day of a meeting, they will make sure all reports are in two days prior to the meeting and will discuss pertinent information with a team member prior to the meeting.

 

Pediatric Therapies, Inc. puts a strong emphasis on IDEA guidelines and providing the appropriate educational therapy for a student so that they can optimally function within their classroom and are served in their least restrictive environment.

Occupational therapy intervention enables children to engage in needed and valued life activities or “occupations.” Occupational therapists working in educational settings help children to prepare for and perform important learning and school-related activities and to fulfill their role as a student.

Physical therapy intervention enables children to physically access their educational environment. Physical therapists working in educational settings use a wide array of service models, materials, strategies, and accommodations to support a student’s participation and progress in school.

Speech language pathologists offer assistance in addressing linguistic and metalinguistic foundations of curriculum learning for students with disabilities, as well as other learners who are at risk in the school setting.

School psychologists are trained to identify, address and overcome learning and behavioral needs in school-aged children. The school psychologists on our team are knowledgeable on issues that affect students and know how to support pupils in finding strategies to deal with those issues.

As a teacher, elementary school administrator, and special education administrator, I have had the wonderful experience of working with the therapists of Pediatric Therapies, Inc. for more than 15 years. In addition to keeping a prompt schedule and maintaining clear communication, the therapists actively pursue a collaborative relationship with the special education teachers, administrators and parents, understanding that putting the child’s interests first requires teamwork.
